Phil Johnston

From gaining University Entrance at King's College, Phil entered the Auckland University School of Engineering. He later set up the broadcast facilities for New Zealand's first private radio station and in 1969 was registered as an electronics serviceman and a member of the Institute of Electronic & Electrical Engineers.

In 1973, in partnership with three others, Phil formed the company that would become JDA, to provide a range of technical support services to the New Zealand broadcasting industry.
